SCYE Tackles Mental Health Stigma In ‘Paru-Paro’

Filipino rapper SCYE teams up with Chin Detera of pop-rock quartet CHNDTR in “Paru-Paro” (Butterfly), a track that aims to normalize conversations and “debunk” stigma about mental health.

“The intention of ‘Paru-Paro’ is to connect with people who are struggling with the trauma they’ve been going through since childhood that cause them to drown in depression, panic attacks, anxiety, and suicidal attempts,” SCYE shared in a press statement. “This song also aims to remind their relatives and friends to give at least a little time to talk to them and listen to their struggles about their mental health issues.”

The Def Jam Philippines rapper went on to say that he wants to “give people who are making fun of the struggles in and out of social media a matter of perspective.”

This is SCYE’s follow-up to his official major label debut, “Aking Kabanata” (My Chapter). He also participated in a regional hip hop remix of Olivia Rodrigo’s chart-topping hit, “drivers license,” alongside fellow Def Jam South East Asia artists YA, Pradaa, Ben Utomo, Fateeha, and DonWilson.
