Kendrick Lamar has released a new music video for “Rich Spirit” off his fifth studio album Mr. Morale The Big Steppers. Check it out below.
The visual to the fan-favorite record off the album was directed by Calmatic and finds K Dot in an empty home wearing a red outfit with cowboy boots. Before long, the Compton rapper begins showing off some dance moves, similar to those he’s been performing on his world tour.
Fans then see Kendrick change his outfit and talk on a disconnected telephone before he continues dancing and rapping in front of a mirror in another scene. The visual for “Rich Spirit” is the third video in support of the critically acclaimed project, after the release of “N95” and the short film for “We Cry Together” starring Taylour Paige.
Mr. Morale The Big Steppers debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, opening with 295,000 album-equivalent units that consisted of 35,000 album sales and 258,000 streaming units. It gave K Dot his fourth No. 1 album and was the first Hip Hop album in 2022 to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify.
The arrival of the video also comes after Kendrick grabbed eight Grammy nominations for the album. He’s picked up nominations for Album of the Year, Record of the Year and Song of the Year for “The Heart Part 5,” Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance, Best Music Video, and Best Melodic Rap Performance.
Kendrick Lamar is currently still on tour and will be wrapping up the last stop of the European leg this week. He’ll also be performing a string of shows across Australia and New Zealand in December, with his cousin Baby Keem joining him for the trek.
Fans who weren’t lucky enough to grab tickets can catch the tour on Amazon Prime Video, where the rapper touched down in Paris, France, to perform at the Accor Arena. The show was also a celebration of the 10-year anniversary of his universally praised second studio album, good kid, m.A.A.d city.
