The Roots’ SXSW Performance Cancelled Following Bomb Threat

Austin, TX – As Austin’s annual South By Southwest (SXSW) music festival begins to wind down, it’s ending on a terrifying note.

On Saturday night (March 17), The Roots’ performance was cancelled following an alleged bomb threat. At the JW Marriott hotel in downtown Austin, where The Roots were staying, bomb-sniffing dogs were called in to thoroughly search the premises.

The Roots’ James Poyser told HipHopDX, “So crazy … God is good tho … we’re all safe.”

A press statement obtained by DX reads, “Due to a security concern, we have made the difficult decision to cancel tonight’s Bud Light x The Roots SXSW Jam. After working proactively with SXSW, the Austin Police Department, and other authorities, Bud Light believes this is the best course of action to ensure the safety of our guests, staff and artists. We appreciate your understanding.

“We are truly sorry to have to cancel the event but we felt it was necessary to take all safety precautions.”

The Roots were scheduled to perform alongside Ludacris, Dermot Kennedy, Jessie Reyez, Rapsody, Tank the Bangas, Moon Taxi, and other surprise guests at the Bud Light x The Roots Friends Jam. The event was being held at the Fair Market on E 5th Street.

Questlove, who frequently tends to his social media accounts, reportedly addressed the situation in a since-deleted tweet.

“Uh, welp can’t say much but for those in Austin waiting in line to see us tonight,” he wrote. “Tonight’s show has been cancelled. They’ll make official announcement but I’d rather save y’all the trouble of waiting in line.”

One Twitter user responded to The Roots’ drummer, “Safety first.”

Several attendees also took their concerns to Twitter.

The Game Warns Tekashi 6ix9ine To "Cut The Tuff Shit Out"

The Game has returned with another round of insults aimed at Tekashi 6ix9ine after the “Gummo” rapper claimed he “turned ‘gangsters’ into clout chasers” on Instagram. The Compton rap stalwart shared an old photo of 6ix9ine before he had rainbow-colored hair and a giant “69” tattooed on his face.

The caption included an ominous warning telling 6ix9ine to “cut the tuff shit out before it’s too late.”

“This the bum y’all let call himself the king of New York ???” he wrote. “Frank White only KING OF NY… This really the nigga running round talkin bout he been a blood his whole life ?? This really the niggas running round throwing up blood wit ??? This lil weirdo… Foh nigga.

“If you don’t take that red rag off playing wit real niggas lives get yo dick in the booty Carlton sweater around the neck wearin ass on somewhere stop playing wit this blood shit before somebody hurt yo mamas only daughter. You a nice guy, look at that smile…cut the tuff shit out before it’s too late.”

The beef kicked off on Friday (March 16) when The Game called 6ix9ine a “Fake-ass Blood” during a European concert and lead the crowd in a “Fuck 6ix9ine” chant.

On Saturday (March 17), 6ix9ine seemed to retaliate with a handful of Instagram posts, including one that claimed he had the “whole industry right now aggravated” and another proudly proclaiming he’s the “MOST HATED.”

“I’m telling you now… they are going to write a documentary on me,” he wrote. “How a kid with rainbow hair changed ganglife. It was a kid with rainbow hair to make “known gangsters” to get out of character. Pulling everybody’s card. Never checking in. Never being able to get touched. A kid with rainbow hair got the industry frustrated. MOST HATED.”

But the polarizing rainbow-haired rapper, whose “Gummo” single recently went platinum, appeared to quickly fire back at The Game. On Saturday morning (March 17), the Brooklyn native headed to Instagram and claimed to have the entire music industry “aggravated.”

“I TURNED ‘GANGSTERS’ INTO CLOUT CHASERS,” he wrote. “I INVITE ALL YALL TO MY DICK. A KID WITH RAINBOW HAIR GOT THE WHOLE INDUSTRY RIGHT NOW AGGRAVATED.”

Earlier this week, 6ix9ine was in Houston attempting to get into a Rap-A-Lot party hosted by Jay Prince, Jr. In an Instagram video posted on Thursday (March 15), Prince explained 6ix9ine failed to show “proper respect” and wasn’t allowed to enter the event.

I just want to take the time out to tell my youngest brother @babyjayprince that I’m proud of the way that u delivered my message to @6ix9ine_ when he tried to come in my party this past Sunday. You handled it stiffly but with class and I’m proud of you for that! First off @6ix9ine_ , don’t think that u can go to other people’s city and not show them the proper respect that’s due, we’ve earned that and demand it! Although I might not condone in a bunch of the moves you’ve made, I don’t know u and I know that your young and new to this so u have a lot of learning to do. So with that being said, I’m still willing to sit down and have a conversation with u but not for one second do u get it misunderstood that u can get away with the disrespect in my city the way you’ve shown in others. We won’t tolerate it. Make your next move your best move! #CourtesyCall #MobTies

The DAY69 rapper has been accused of multiple sex crimes involving a minor stemming from a 2015 incident. Subsequently, he entered a guilty plea to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office for “the use of a child in a sexual performance,” leading many to label him a pedophile. Despite his troubling past, DAY69 entered the Billboard 200 chart at #4.

50 Cent Reacts To Lloyd Banks’ "Retirement"

G-Unit fans were on high alert earlier this week when Lloyd Banks suddenly announced he was putting the mic down for good. Many begged him not to retire while others wished him the best. In true form, 50 Cent decided to make a joke.

On Friday (March 16), the notorious social media class clown took to Instagram with a meme to express his thoughts. Along with a photo of a man relaxing next to a bottle of wine and the words, “Lloyd Banks Be Like Retirement,” Fif wrote, “I be like, I got shit to do #power”

As it turned out, the joke was on everyone. With lightning speed, Banks revoked his retirement card and announced he wasn’t going anywhere late Friday night (March 16).

To get the job done, he shared a 2007 clip of the WWE’s Ric Flair shouting, “I will never retire!”

Lil Xan Reportedly Needed Police Escort To Escape Angry Tupac Fans

Redlands, CA – Lil Xan is apparently still feeling the heat from his controversial 2Pac comments. After Xan called the Hip Hop great “boring” during a REVOLT interview, he’s been getting dragged left and right by (former?) fans and peers alike.

In fact, Waka Flocka Flame insisted the “Betrayed” rapper be banned from Hip Hop.

According to TMZ, Xan recently needed to call upon a police escort to escape an angry mob of teenagers. While eating at a Redlands, California Del Taco, the 21-year-old was reportedly surrounded by several teens who berated him for dissing the late rap legend.

Xan ran to a near-by YMCA where he enlisted the help of an officer to take him safely to his car.

Check out Xan’s original comments below.
