Tekashi 6ix9ine’s Court Hearing Postponed

Tekashi 6ix9ine isn’t behind bars or running from a court date. The Brooklyn rapper’s hearing, which was scheduled to take place on Tuesday (April 10), was postponed due to the results of his GED test not being available.

DJ Akademiks, who previously claimed 6ix9ine didn’t show up for the court date, clarified his earlier remarks after learning the DAY69 artist’s lawyers filed a motion to delay the proceedings.

6ix9ine’s management also prompted speculation about their client being incarcerated by tweeting “Free69” from his Twitter and announcing they took over his Instagram account. The publicity stunt coincided with the release of his new song “GOTTI,” which debuted on streaming outlets on Tuesday.

Tekashi 6ix9ine has dropped a new song titled “GOTTI” after deleting all of the posts on his Instagram account. The track appears on an updated version of his debut album DAY69 dubbed DAY69: Graduation Day, which is available now on streaming outlets.

The song arrives amid reports of the controversial rapper skipping out on his scheduled court date on Tuesday (April 10). Everyday Struggle host DJ Akademiks — who has close ties to the “GUMMO” artist — claims 6ix9ine didn’t show up to the hearing. But in February, Akademiks erroneously reported 6ix9ine was arrested at a video shoot when the NYPD revealed the polarizing MC was simply removed from the scene for safety precautions.

BREAKING: #tekashi69 did not show up to his court date today and deleted all his posts on Instagram. His last hearing his judge contemplated giving him 3 years in jail for not passing his GED. He claimed he passed it but still didn’t show up to court. Would u be sad if he went to prison?

6ix9ine’s management added fuel to the fire of speculation by announcing they’d taken over his Instagram account because he will not be back “until further notice.”

“MANAGEMENT: TEKASHI WONT BE BACK UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. HE’S DECIDED TO RELEASE THE OFFICIAL AUDIO TO GOTTI TODAY FOR YOU GUYS, LINK IS IN HIS BIO,” the message reads. “WE’LL UPDATE YOU GUYS ON HIS BEHALF FOR THE TIME BEING. GO LISTEN TO GOTTI NOW! LINK IN HIS BIO. HE LOVES YOU GUYS! #69.”

“#FREE69” was also tweeted from his official Twttier account.

The polarizing rapper had been asking fans to pray for him ahead of his court date, noting he was worried the judge would revoke his probation.

HipHopDX has reached out to 6ix9ine’s management for details on the situation.

With a court appearance scheduled for Tuesday (April 10), Tekashi 6ix9ine is asking the internet to lift him up in prayer.

In a video uploaded to social media on Monday (April 9), 6ix9ine informed fans of his upcoming court appearance and later asked them to put him in their prayers.

The rapper appears somewhat somber in the video, revealing that he’s dotted his I’s and crossed his T’s on the court’s conditions, but is still at the mercy of the judge in the matter.

“Yo, so I got court tomorrow. And I want everybody to put me in their prayers,” 6ix9ine said. “Hopefully, we come out on top. GED is done. Everything is done. But you never know what the judge is gonna say, so I want everybody to say a prayer. Hopefully, I could say what’s up to y’all tomorrow.”

Tuesday’s court appearance stems from pleading guilty to a charge of use of a child in a sexual performance, which dates back to 2015.

Completing his GED was part of the court’s orders as part of 6ix9ine’s probation, but if the judge in his case sees fit he could be looking at time behind bars.

In his Breakfast Club interview in March (which is nearing 9 million YouTube views), a pastor prayed for God to keep 6ix9ine safe, healthy and to help him reach his potential.

XXXTENTACION Reportedly Suing Woman For Fraud & Defamation

After an old video of XXXTENTACION appearing to hit a woman emerged online last month, the alleged victim in the clip said she waited so long to speak out because she was “terrified” for her life.

Now, the “Look At Me!” rapper is suing the woman for fraud and defamation, according to TMZ. In a new lawsuit, X claims the woman is lying about her initial statement and trying to extort him for $300,000.

X’s manager allegedly reached out to the woman shortly after she posted the video but her grandparents called back to ask what X would do to “make everything good.”

The woman’s grandparents reportedly said X threw a BB gun at the woman’s face prior to the slap seen in the clip. In the court doc, the Broward County, Florida native says she was threatening to hold a news conference about his frequent violence toward women.

X is currently facing multiple felony charges stemming from a 2016 domestic violence case that includes kidnapping and witness tampering.

Despite his polarizing public persona, X’s music continues to do well. His most recent project, ?, debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, marking his first chart-topping album.

HipHopDX reached out to X’s team but didn’t hear immediately hear back.

Mysterious Hackers Briefly Change Titles Of Drake & Cardi B Videos On YouTube

A group of hackers exploited a potentially dangerous hole in VEVO and YouTube’s security, changing titles of several notable videos, such as Drake’s “God’s Plan” and Cardi B’s “Bartier Cardi.” The hackers change a variety of popular videos to different variations of “hacked by Kuroi’sh  Prosox.”

A few of the videos also added Shade and Akashi IT as accomplices, suggesting some additional manpower. A Twitter user with the handle ProsoxW3b claimed responsibility and said the hacking was done for fun.

Luis Fonsi’s smash-single “Despacito,” which surpassed five billion plays just days ago, was also briefly erased. Initially, hackers merely changed the still image to a scene from Netflix’s Money Heist (also known as La Casa de Pape) with the caption ”Free Palestine.” But soon after, it was taken offline altogether.

Prosox didn’t take responsibility for deleting “Despacito.” However, the Twitter user did note “if we would like to harm your customers we would delete all the video[s].”

The titles for the various videos have since been corrected and “Despacito” has been restored.

Hip Hop Album Sales: The Weeknd Runs Away With #1 Spot

The Weeknd didn’t need much promo to secure his third consecutive #1 debut on the Billboard 200. The hit-making singer’s My Dear Melancholy EP continued his hot streak despite its abrupt release. Elsewhere on the chart for the week ending April 5, Rich The Kid’s inaugural LP performed well enough to reach #2.

At the end of March, The Weeknd surprised fans by teasing a brand new project and dropping it a few days later. Despite the lack of major promotional campaign, his fans supported his My Dear Melancholy in droves and helped it reached #1 on this week’s Billboard 200.

The EP moved 168,570 total album equivalent units with 68,480 coming in pure album sales. His total numbers beat out his closest competition by over 100,000 units, and he may not be done yet following another tease.

A post shared by Rich The Kid (@richthekid) on Apr 2, 2018 at 9:48am PDT

Rich The Kid’s debut album, The World Is Yours, landed at #2 in its first week on the chart. The Rich Forever Music founder’s LP achieved the feat by raking in 59,095 total album equivalent units.

The inclusion of the Kendrick Lamar-assisted “New Freezer” and popular single “Plug Walk” certainly helped the streaming numbers (74,278,829 in total) for Rich. The World Is Yours sold 6,413 in pure sales, so most fans were listening through their streaming service of choice.

DJ Esco’s Future-Assisted “Kolorblind” Cracks Top 40

Bring It Out!

A post shared by DJ ESCO (@escomoecity) on Apr 8, 2018 at 12:23pm PDT

DJ Esco’s Kolorblind project was the third-highest Hip Hop debut of the week, but it was nowhere close to The Weeknd and Rich The Kid’s releases. Despite Future’s heavy presence on Esco’s latest work, Kolorblind was all the way down at #38 in its first week.

Billing it as a collaborative project with Future — similar to 2016’s Project E.T. — probably would’ve bolstered sales, especially since the Freebandz boss is featured on every song. For his first week, the “Coolest DJ In The World” garnered 12,632 total album equivalent units.

Nicki Minaj Tweet & Delete Leads To Album Release Theories

Nicki Minaj, who has recently been praised by both Birdman and Jack White, is no stranger to whipping the web into a frenzy with rogue — almost cryptic — posts. Sunday (April 8), she set off yet another storm of wild speculation, breaking her self-imposed social media absence to tweet “4,” before promptly erasing it.

#TweetAndDelete: #NickiMinaj tweeted for the first time since last year quickly deleted it…What y’all think “4” means? ???

A post shared by The Shade Room (@theshaderoom) on Apr 8, 2018 at 3:41pm PDT

Fans quickly began to speculate that it had something to do with the release of her highly anticipated fourth album, with some wondering if the number referred to four days, meaning it drops at midnight on April 13th. Others were less optimistic but speculated that it could apply to an album release in April (the fourth month).

Whatever it means, Barbz Twitter collectively lost its mind.

Whether the tweet is, in fact, forecasting a release (or was merely fired off accidentally), it heightened anticipation for the new LP, which would be her first release since 2014’s The Pinkprint.
