Master P Holds Rally Calling For C-Murder’s Release From Prison

New Orleans, LA – Following a celebrity basketball charity event, Master P held a rally for his younger brother Corey “C-Murder” Miller on Thursday (July 5) on the Xavier University campus in New Orleans.

Miller is currently serving a life sentence for the 2002 murder of 16-year-old Steven Thomas. But after two key witnesses in Miller’s case recently recanted their statements pointing the finger at the No Limit rapper, Master P is demanding his brother’s release from the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola.

“It’s time for him to come home,” Master P said in a video shared by Nola.com. “They have no more witnesses. They already came and recanted their statements.”

Miller’s attorney was on hand for the rally and said he’d just spoken to his client who remains “cautiously optimistic.”

After a “Free Corey Miller” chant erupted from the crowd, Master P reminded those in attendance what he was fighting for.

“I want this to be about innocent people that are incarcerated,” he said. “Corey told me, he say, ‘If somebody committed a crime, they should be incarcerated.’ I mean, he’s a tough guy, he’s not perfect. But he told me, he said, ‘Big brother, I know I made a lot of mistakes. I named myself what I named myself.

“I’ve been convicted for my music but you know what? That can’t stop an innocent man and music is not a crime and naming yourself something is not a crime.’ Evidence shows that he is innocent. We can’t wait to get him home. We love y’all. We gonna keep supporting this movement.”

Thousands gather as Master P held a peaceful Free Corey Miller Celebration in New Orleans. Innocent people should not be incarcerated #FreeCoreyMiller Thanks to all the fans for all your support and prayers #GodIsGood

Miller was convicted in 2009 and has maintained his innocence since his arrest. In 2017, a Jefferson Parish judge ordered Miller to pay $1.15 million to Thomas’ family.

Since his conviction, he’s released at least four projects, including the 2016 Boosie Badazz collaboration, Penitentiary Chances.

G-Eazy & Halsey Were Collaborating On Music Just Before Breakup

Before their relationship came to an end, former couple G-Eazy and Halsey had just spent time together recording in the studio.

Prior to Halsey announcing on social media on July 3 that the two were “taking some time apart,” G-Eazy took part in an interview with Billboard. In it, he commended Halsey on her talents and revealed that he loves collaborating with someone he’s in love with.

“We were just in the studio the other night and we made a couple records,” G-Eazy said. “She’s one of the most talented people in music. I tell her this all the time like there’s only like six of you on the planet that are this good. And she’s really rare! It’s just dope. I told you how much I love collaborating but when you get to collaborate with the person you’re in love with and share this experience of making a song and performing a song. And the person you’re sharing it with is that … that’s really dope.”

G-Eazy and Halsey have collaborated before, releasing their “Him I” record months after they began dating. The rapper and his former pop-star girlfriend dated for nearly a year before this week’s breakup.

G-Eazy’s interview with Billboard showed no indications of a potential end to their romance, and at one point the Oakland rapper doted on his chemistry with Halsey in the studio.

“Me and her are storytellers and when we write, it’s really like painting a picture and characters … the mood. It’s definitely that,” he said.
