Janelle Monae Shares New Album "Dirty Computer"

Janelle Monae returns with her third studio album, Dirty Computer, featuring 14 tracks with big name guests such as Pharrell Williams, Zoe Kravitz and Beach Boys legend Brian Wilson.

Although it announced this past February, Dirty Computer has been in development since before Monae began work on two hit films, Moonlight and Hidden Figures, in 2016. Monae reverted back to finishing the album in 2017 and since the official announcement, has unleashed a slew of singles and videos to ramp up the hype train.

In a tracklist reveal experience on the album’s website, Monae detailed a wide range of influences for this particular album including Wakanda’s own vibranium and Dora Milaje, “wack ass fuckboys everywhere,” Barack Obama, wild mushroom tea parties in Mexico and the late-great Prince – whom Monae revealed spent time working with her on the album in an interview with BBC Radio 1.

Earlier this week, Monae unveiled dates for her Dirty Computer Tour. Tickets go on sale to the general public Wednesday, May 2. Every ticket purchased includes a free digital download of Dirty Computer.

Post Malone hit Twitter late on Wednesday night (April 4) to announce the release date for his sophomore studio album, Beerbongs Bentleys.

The long-awaited LP will arrive on April 27.

The announcement came a short while after Malone hit the stage in Nashville on Wednesday evening as part of his Bud Light Dive Bar Tour.

During his set — which was live streamed across Facebook and Twitter — Malone performed his new single “Stay” for the first time.

“This is my first time fucking playing this song by the way,” Malone told the crowd. “And I know for a fact that I’m gonna fuck it up, but we’re gonna figure it out anyway.”

Bud Light offered an exclusive preview of the track prior to his live performance.

“Stay” comes around six weeks after Malone released “Psycho,” which features Ty Dolla $ign. Based on the success of that single, and the smash hit that was “Rockstar,” the project is already eligible for a gold certification.

Stoney, Malone’s 2016 debut album, has continued to experience success on the charts too. The LP — which features Justin Bieber, Kehlani, and Quavo — currently sits at #7 on the Billboard 200 after 68 weeks.

Kelis Details Allegedly Violent Relationship With Nas

Nas and his ex-wife Kelis have reportedly been embroiled in a bitter custody battle over their 8-year-old son Knight that was only recently settled. In a new (and rare) interview with Hollywood Unlocked, the “Milkshake” singer opens up about what she alleges was a violent relationship with her ex-husband.

The couple married in 2003 in a lavish ceremony — although she says they’d already gotten married prior — and the divorce was finalized in 2010.

Just love exploring the world with my little ones by my side ?

A post shared by Kelis (@kelis) on Jan 5, 2018 at 10:57am PST

“We had like really intense highs and really intense lows,” the 38-year-old says. “It was never normal. The intense high would be like money was rolling in. We were young, too. I was 22 when I met him. I was a baby. We were drinking too much, smoking too much — we were too much. We were spending too much. We were balling out of control. It was all just too much. We lived hard and so because of that when that comes down, it goes really low. As low as possible. So, it’s hard ’cause there’s no balance. There’s no normalcy.”

As the conversation continued, Kelis started to unravel what went allegedly on behind closed doors. Although she says she was young, naive and madly in love, she admits she “took a lot” of unacceptable behavior.

When asked if she was referring to Nas’ infidelity, Kelis replied, “That was the straw that broke the camel’s back but that wasn’t it. I didn’t file for divorce because he cheated. He’d been cheating for two years and I knew that. It was because on top of all the other stuff, then you’re going to cheat? Ok. This is too much. It was really toxic. I was pregnant and at 7 months pregnant, I was terrified.”

One of the Harlem native’s most disturbing accusations was that their marriage was soaked in alcohol — which she dubbed the “Patron era” — and would often lead to physical violence. She says Nas would black out and not remember the night before.

“It was really dark,” she says. “There was a lot of drinking, and a lot of mental and physical abuse. We would fight. I never just sat there but we would definitely fight. I’ve waited nine years to say anything. The amount of airing out I could do — and I’ve chosen not to — our kids will find out. They’re finding out now. I’ve never painted myself as a saint. Did he hit me? Mmmhm. Did I hit him? Mmmhm.”

She continued, “It was because he would black out. He would drink too much. He will never admit it. But he drank too much. There were times when we would party and I’d drink with him but he would keep drinking. We’d have the worst night ever and we would wake up the next day, and it’s like it never happened.” Embed from Getty Images

To make up for it, she says Nas would buy her expensive gifts and while she says she liked the gifts, she knew their marriage was in trouble. In 2009, when the news broke Chris Brown had physically assaulted his then-girlfriend Rihanna, Kelis says she felt humiliated by her own situation.

“Something reminded me of Rihanna,” she explains. “I remember so clearly when the pictures came out with that whole thing that happened with her and Chris Brown … I had bruises all over my body at the time. That day, I remember being in Atlanta, sitting in kitchen … and I wasn’t ready to walk, so I didn’t say it … Seeing her, the way she looked and then looking at myself, I was embarrassed. I wasn’t ready for that move … I thought I could love past this.”

Although the battle over Knight is reportedly resolved for now, TMZ reported Nas is accusing Kelis of violating the terms of their agreement earlier this month.

Kelis insists the Illmatic legend is obsessed with his image and will never change.

“He was angry and he was dark, and he’s always been that way,” she says. “To this day, that man is exactly the man I married. He has changed not one iota. I changed … What you take at 22 and what you take at 28 are very different.”

Kanye West Shares John Legend Texts Concerned About Trump Support

The Land Of SMS – The outcry and disdain revolving around Kanye West’s pro-Trump support was made obvious within the Hip Hop community of fans and artists alike.

And it appears there’s the same level of concern from those who can immediately get in touch with the enigmatic rap superstar.

Enter John Legend, the Grammy Award-winning singer who first earned his big break underneath Kanye West’s GOOD Music imprint back in 2004. Since he and Ye’s relationship goes back several years, he reached out personally via text message to voice his concerns.

And since Ye is who he is, he posted them online.

“Hey its JL,” the text message began. “I hope you’ll reconsider aligning yourself with Trump. You’re way too powerful and influential to endorse who he is and what he stands for. As you know, what you say really means something to your fans. They are loyal to you and respect your opinion. So many people who love you feel so betrayed right now because they know the harm that Trump’s policies cause, especially to people of color.

“Don’t let this be part of your legacy. You’re the greatest artist of our generation,” Legend concluded.

While stepping over the direct political implications, Kanye responded, “I love you John and I appreciate your thoughts. You bringing up my fans or my legacy is a tactic based on fear used to manipulate my free thought.”

Legend then kept things amicable, writing “Think freely. Think with empathy and context too. Your words and actions have consequences. Much love.”

Then, knowing very well that Kanye was in the mode of sharing his text convos on Twitter, half-jokingly plugged his new single, “A Good Night,” which we’ve taken the due diligence of posting down below.

Prior to the SMS exchange, the stout activist Legend had subtweeted about the situation.
