Del The Funky Homosapien Teams With Amp Live For "Gate 13" LP

Del The Funky Homosapien and Amp Live, two staples of the Bay Area Hip Hop scene, have joined forces for a collaborative album titled Gate 13. The Hieroglyphics MC and former Zion I producer’s new project features 16 tracks with guest appearances by Eligh and Goapele, among others.

“The title is alluding to opening up a way to some bad shit,” Del told HipHopDX. “Amp and I both be talking about tech shit, musical trends, how shit evolve, you know, nerding out on music. We’ve known each other for years, and got common interests as far as composing music and dissecting it.”

Snoop Dogg Won’t Insult Donald Trump Any More

Less than a year ago, Snoop Dogg was one of Hip Hop’s most prominent critics of President Donald Trump. But in a new interview for TV One’s Uncensored, Tha Doggfather explained why he’s stopped antagonizing the commander-in-chief.

“You don’t answer to politics with negativity and the same energy that they have, because you’ll never win,” he said. “This is the system that they designed. You can only beat the system by being the anti, and the anti-hate is love, so that’s what we do. Because I hated on the president. I came at him way foul at the beginning.”

Snoop detailed why he went so hard on Trump before realizing he was playing the president’s game. To truly combat Trump, the D-O Double G decided to change course and focus on putting out positive energy.

“I felt the way y’all feel,” he noted. “Because this president, whatever color you are, is very disrespectful to you as a human being. We took a few stands on him. Put a few pieces up, videos and threw a few shots at him. But I felt, that’s going nowhere fast ’cause he loves that.”

The veteran MC continued, “He’s one of those guys who he tweeted me for something I did and said my career fell off and then made my career blow up even bigger. I said, ‘This is a dummy. This is a straight dummy.’ Let me leave him alone, cuz, and put some peace in the world and put some love in the world and not focus on him. ‘Cause the devil’s a lie. Just put some peace in the world, and you should unite people of all walks of life and be the anti of what he is.”

Last year, Snoop made headlines for his “Lavender” video with BADBADNOTGOOD, which depicted a mock assassination of Trump. He continued to troll Trump throughout 2017, depicting the president’s corpse in artwork inspired by Ice Cube’s Death Certificate cover and releasing an EP titled Make America Crip Again.

Is Kill Edward Just J. Cole Featuring Himself On "KOD"?

J.Cole isn’t known for having guests on his albums. In fact, when 2014 Forest Hills Drive went platinum in 2015, he became the first Hip Hop artist to achieve the certification in more than 25 years without features. For this reason, die-hard fans and rap nerds alike were thrown for a loop when the artwork and tracklisting for his upcoming KOD album had not one but two features from a mysterious artist named Kill Edward.

So who is Kill Edward? A quick Google search reveals a whole lot of nothing except a song posted this week by a verified SoundCloud account (and on major streaming platforms) titled “tidal wave (Just a little reference).”

A pitched-up version of the track further points to Kill Edward being Cole himself, perhaps as an alter ego.

There’s also a Twitter account that matches the name of Kill Edward’s “Kill his ways” label, but it doesn’t really offer any clear clues about Edward’s identity. In its handful of tweets since January, the account has praised Michael Jackson and Lil Wayne, and only follows Minister Louis Farrakhan. Cole also follows Farrakhan from his verified account.

Is it possible that Kill Edward isn’t Cole, the same way Your Old Droog isn’t Nas?

We’ll have to wait until Friday to know for sure.
