Beats By Saif Says SXSW Confrontation With Smokepurpp Wasn’t About Clout Or Money

Smokepurpp and notorious Twitter beat troll Beats By Saif nearly came to blows during a confrontation in Austin, Texas this past weekend. Following the Lyrical Lemonade SXSW showcase at Club Lux, which was headlined by Smokepurpp, Saif approached the rapper to clear the air after alleging the Interscope Records artist stole $2,000 from him and failed to deliver on a verse.

“I didn’t approach him to fight,” Saif tells HipHopDX. “I went by myself. I was cool and was talking to him with respect. I told him multiple times that I didn’t want any smoke. I just wanted to talk like men and move on and be over that whole situation.”

The incident, which was captured on video and widely shared across social media, shows the conversation quickly going south with Smokepurpp screaming, “I should beat your ass,” before Saif runs off.

“He had 20 people with him,” Saif noted multiple times — including in a video account of what went down. “His manager told me to run … I dipped, and they chased me. I was too fast.”

According to Saif, he sent Smokepurrp $2,000 and shortly after, all his DMs and texts went ignored. He decided to post the conversations on his Twitter, which quickly went viral. Smokepurpp denies any wrongdoing, alleging his accounts were hacked and he never actually talked to Saif.

“First of all, a verse from me is $25,000,” he stated in a video response to the situation. “$2,000 wouldn’t even get you an adlib,” he said, pointing out he was “geeked off of lean and Percocet” at the time.

Smokepurpp was also clear that Saif didn’t confront him or ask him for any money at all.

“He came up to me apologizing … he even tried to hug me,” he said.

Saif has in the past accused Lil Uzi Vert of stealing an instrumental from him, which was eventually proven to be false. Given the nature of Saif’s notoriety, many began to speculate this was all stunt. According to the producer, that isn’t the case.

“This ain’t about clout or money — I don’t give a fuck about none of that,” he says. “At the end of the day, this is about being real being a man, and being a good human being.”

YoungBoy Never Broke Again Indicted On Assault & Kidnapping Charges

Waycross, GA – YoungBoy Never Broke Again is out on bail, but the criminal case against him is proceeding. A grand jury has indicted the Baton Rouge native on charges of aggravated assault and kidnapping in Waycross, Georgia, according to TMZ.

The news comes just a day after YoungBoy, whose real name is Kentrell Gaulden, alarmed fans with a post on Twitter.

“Just need to hurry up in die so this shit can be over,” he wrote on Sunday (March 18).

YoungBoy was arrested in Tallahassee, Florida on an outstanding felony warrant in February. He was extradited to Georgia, where he has been accused of beating his girlfriend and dragging her into a hotel room against her will. Video of the incident leaked online soon after his arrest.

His girlfriend, Jania Jackson, didn’t want to press charges, claiming the alleged altercation was simply horseplay. The grand jury in Georgia still chose to indict YoungBoy despite Jackson’s decision.

Before the indictment came down, YoungBoy’s legal woes already posed a threat to his probation, which he was sentenced to for his role in a non-fatal drive-by shooting. Prosecutors in his home state of Louisiana asked a Baton Rouge judge to revoke his probation after declaring him “a threat to society and the safety of others” in light of his February arrest.

In the book, Fox describes her sex life with 50 as being “PG-13.”

“Most of the time, I would be the one initiating sex, because I really enjoyed making love with him,” she wrote, according to the Daily News.

Fox reportedly had no intention of discussing their sex life in the book but did so because 50 has repeatedly “invented stories” about her.

Sean Price’s death was a major blow to the Hip Hop community, but the Boot Camp Clik member recorded a ton of material before his passing that’s helped to keep his name in the public eye. Price’s effort in the studio has allowed for multiple posthumous releases, including 2017’s Imperius Rex album and a new collaborative EP with Illa Ghee due out on March 16.

Ghee revealed the EP’s release date alongside Price’s wife Bernadette in a video uploaded on Tuesday (March 13). The project, titled Metal Detectors, was already in the works before Price passed away three years ago.

“Here ye here ye… Me @illaghee2k Bern @bernadettealwayshumble has an announcement to make!!!” Ghee wrote in Instagram caption to the video. “The EP ‘Metal Detectors’ will be dropping March 16th 2018. oh my fuckin gawd.”

Duck Down Music, Price’s longtime label, is handling the release. The imprint, which was co-founded by Dru-Ha and Boot Camp Clik’s Buckshot, also shared the above video on its social media platforms.

In a 2015 interview with HipHopDX, Ghee said the grieving process following Price’s death was a significant obstacle to completing Metal Detectors.

“I just have to get my mind right before I deal with that,” he explained. “I kinda chilled out with it for a minute because after losing a friend, I just want to chill and grieve for a minute until I’m feeling a lot better.”

No additional details, such as the tracklist or cover art, for the EP have been revealed at this time.
