Eminem Faces Backlash For Gunshot Sound Effect At Bonnaroo 2018

Manchester, TN – Eminem is no stranger to controversy, but this time, it has nothing to do with the content of his lyrics.

Slim Shady has come under scrutiny for using a gunshot sound effect during his set at the 2018 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival on Saturday (June 9). The rap superstar used the sound effect multiple times in his performance, which scared some concertgoers in light of the frequency of mass shootings in the United States.

Multiple Twitter users expressed their outrage and disappointment over Eminem’s performance. Some attendees said they left the festival due to his use of the sound effect.

Others on Twitter defended Eminem, noting that has been using the gunshot sound effect for years. Slim Shady has even used it this year without facing such backlash.

Eminem hasn’t publicly commented on the matter at this time.

Dave East & Dreezy To Star In Netflix’s Chicago Hip Hop Movie "Beats"

Dave East and Dreezy are adding acting credits to their respective résumés.

The two rappers have been cast in Netflix’s Beats, a film about Chicago Hip Hop starring Black-ish’s Anthony Anderson and Orange Is The New Black’s Uzo Aduba.

The upcoming movie is directed by Chris Robinson, who is known for his work on the 2006 film ATL and BET’s The New Edition Story miniseries. Chicago native Khalil Everage, a 17-year-old newcomer, has been cast in the lead role.

“In this urban coming of age drama, the paths of a young musical prodigy (Everage) with borderline agoraphobia, and a former music manager (Anderson) who fell from grace, collide on Chicago’s South Side, and the unlikely duo must come together to free each other from the demons of their past,” a Netflix press release reads. “Beats is the ultimate ode to Chicago and its Hip Hop scene, as it illustrates the beating pulse at the heart of the South Side.”

21 Savage Pulls Out Gun During Pool Party Brawl

Atlanta, GA – It seems 21 Savage was following 50 Cent’s “get the strap” mantra over the weekend. The Slaughter Gang rapper was caught on camera flashing a gun in the middle of a brawl on Saturday (June 9).

According to TMZ, 21 was attending an Atlanta area event called the Big Ass Pool Party and a large group of people crashed the festivities. TMZ’s sources claim the altercation began when one of the crashers began talking to a woman in 21’s clique. A crasher allegedly pulled out a gun, which prompted 21 to grab his own piece.

Video of the incident showed 21 grabbing a firearm as the brawl spilled out into a yard. One man was knocked to the ground in the skirmish, but no shots were fired. Police shut down the party upon their arrival.

Kanye West brought out media members to a literal ghost town for the listening party of his joint album with Kid Cudi, Kids See Ghosts. The seven-track album was released haphazardly with a delayed appearance on streaming services and a jumbled tracklist. Despite the mishaps, Kids See Ghosts was met with warm reception from music listeners.

Lil Wayne Released From Cash Money

@originalbumbu …for the weekend

A post shared by Lil Wayne (@liltunechi) on Jun 1, 2018 at 9:11am PDT

Lil Wayne had a lot to celebrate this week after being released from his Cash Money Records contract. Weezy F. Baby reportedly received a huge payout in excess of $10 million along with his release, according to The Blast.

“Per our settlement agreement, the matter has been amicably resolved to the satisfaction of all parties,” Wayne’s lawyer said in a statement to Billboard. “In terms of the particulars, we’re prohibited legally from saying anything further. I can say that my client is happy. He is his own man, a man that owns his assets, his music and himself. At some point, Wayne will let his fans know what’s going to happen next.”

This couldn’t come at a more perfect time since Weezy is celebrating the 10th anniversary Tha Carter III this weekend. Spotify helped celebrate its anniversary by recreating Tha Carter III‘s cover art with baby pictures of various rappers, including French Montana, Chance The Rapper, YG and Trippie Redd.

Drake and Pusha T Rap Beef Is Over

J. Prince has spoken and it’s a wrap for the beef between Drake and Pusha T. The Rap-A-Lot CEO declared Drizzy wouldn’t respond to “The Story Of Adidon” in a variety of interviews, and apparently all the talking resulted in him receiving a threatening text message.

“These are real-life situations we have to deal with,” Prince said. “I understand where it can go, and I’m trying to circumvent it. But by the same token, I’m really the wrong person to be trying to go there with. I understand it, and I’m in a position to try to put an end to it. But the devil don’t even like peace. Believe it or not, he sees you going through peace, and he don’t want it. That means nothing. But this decision, we’re standing by it, and we’re going to move along to do good business.”

Pusha reiterated the beef’s conclusion during an interview with Vanity Fair. “These conversations have been had and, to my knowledge, it’s all over. It’s all over with,” he confirmed.

As far as who won the rap battle, Diddy thinks the crown belongs to King Push.
