Bernie Sanders Co-Signs Cardi B’s Social Security Stance

Burlington, VT – Whether rap fans adore or love to hate Cardi B, her undeniable meteoric rise is transcending music and getting close attention from cultural figures within and outside of the Hip Hop community.

That includes former U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.

Just days after nabbing the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart with her debut album Invasion Of Privacy, Bernie Sanders is backing the former reality TV star-turned-rap sensation for her political statement regarding U.S. Social Security pensions.

During a GQ interview published earlier this month, Cardi B expressed her admiration for political science and being “obsessed” with learning about U.S. presidents. She cited former president Franklin D. Roosevelt as a revolutionary for his New Deal financial reform plan to aid senior citizens over age 65, following The Great Depression in the 1930s. “He’s the real ‘Make America Great Again,’ because if it wasn’t for him, old people wouldn’t get old people wouldn’t even get Social Security,” she quipped in her presumed dig at Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign slogan.

Earlier today (April 18), Sen. Sanders piggybacked off Cardi B’s sentiment by tweeting his support for her, and furthering his agenda for Social Security reform in government. He tweeted “Cardi B is right. If we are going to make America great again we need to strengthen Social Security so that seniors are able to retire with the dignity they deserve.”

Sanders is renowned for his crusade against Donald Trump’s political initiatives. The leftist Vermont senator is no stranger to the Hip Hop community, not only supporting the community outreach of Run The Jewels’ Killer Mike but JAY-Z’s fight to stop the war on drugs as he declared in a 2016 New York Times interview.

O’Shea Jackson Jr. Reveals Music With Big Sean, Method Man & Lil Dicky Is On The Way

Los Angeles, CA – It’s a gift and a curse being the child of a superstar but O’Shea Jackson Jr. is making his own way without eschewing the path that his famous father, Ice Cube paved.

“[As an actor getting into rap] you can’t really do too much with the lyrics without them typecasting you or forcing you to stay within these general rules because they don’t see you as that no more, so my whole way of getting back into music was I really started taking producing seriously,” Jackson Jr. told the DXLive crew. “Once you make the beats they can’t really be mad at you for the content. I’ve been making beats since I was 15. It’s just something I would to do to keep the brain going and just keep that part of me alive, he added.

Breaking out in Hip Hop is difficult no matter where an aspiring artist is from but it’s exponentially harder when the whole world knows you grew up rich and with the benefits of having a father that happens to be a Hip Hop pioneer. But O’Shea Jackson Jr. took heed to something Chris Rock said back in 2003. “If the beat is alright they’ll dance all night.” Instead of trying to break through the oversaturated Hip Hop landscape as an artist, the Den Of Thieves star is using his production skills to kick in the door.

The younger O’Shea may not be a household name on the music side of things just yet, but he does have some credits including songs of his own like “OMG” and the collaboration with his father “Reckless In The Booth,” but with the connects he’s made on his rise to big screen fame, he’s now looking to flex on the world with some high powered collabos.

“It’s always within the arts that’s my go to and what I’ve been doing now is getting all the artists that I’ve met over this journey and just being cool with and I got a couple of ‘em to spit over these bars and we’ll possibly get an album out or a compilation,” Jackson Jr. revealed. “My man Method Man said he’d hook me up with a verse so I’ll make sure I get that done. I’m working with my homie Lil Dicky, my homie Big Sean so we’re definitely headed toward something real nice, and I talked to my mom so Ice Cube’s gonna be on it.”

Now Playing…

A post shared by O’Shea Jackson Jr (@osheajacksonjr) on Nov 19, 2017 at 12:50am PST

In the meantime and in between time, O’Shea Jackson Jr. is continuing to fill his time being a movie star. After the success of Straight Outta Compton (over $200 million worldwide) and the critical acclaim of Ingrid Goes West showing off his action star chops on Den Of Thieves.

“I really needed a nice bring-in after Ingrid Goes West which was an indie film I did after Straight Outta Compton Jackson Jr. said. “I wanted to get back to the big blockbuster you know, at least some sort of dramatic role. So Den Of Thieves gives you drama and action. [50 Cent and Gerard Butler] are in it so I felt like I was in good hands.”

Versatility is the key to longevity in the movie industry and O’Shea is making sure that his credits continue to show the range he knows he’s capable of.

I thought they said I was only gonna do one movie? Welp, for my next trick….

A post shared by O’Shea Jackson Jr (@osheajacksonjr) on Oct 20, 2017 at 8:16pm PDT

“I’m not a one trick pony so I went into the dark comedy with Ingrid Goes West I went into the action with Den Of Thieves and then we’re back to comedy with Flarsky with Seth Rogen coming out, then back to even more action with Godzilla: King of All Monsters so I do does the damn thing.”

Beyoncé’s Coachella Performance Reportedly Set YouTube Livestreaming Record

Indio, CA – Leave it to Beyoncé. The pop singer’s Coachella performance over the weekend has reportedly set a YouTube livestreaming record.

According to TMZ, her Saturday (April 14) set generated 458,000 simultaneous viewers — the most ever for a single Coachella performance since YouTube began streaming the Indio, California festival in 2010.

That’s also 75 percent higher than Lady Gaga’s streaming numbers from last year.

With the help of fellow headliners The Weeknd, Eminem and Migos, YouTube generated 43.1 million livestream views in 232 countries, making it the most-viewed live music festival in YouTube’s history.

Beyoncé’s reunion with fellow Destiny’s Child members Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland couldn’t have hurt either.

Though the Lemonade artist’s performance set the bar for Coachella’s YouTube livestreams, other videos have performed significantly better overall. For example, in April 2017, more than 1.2 million viewers simultaneously watched a baby giraffe’s birth, marking one of the platform’s most viewed livestreams ever.

(The last update on this story was published on April 15, 2018 and can be found below.)

Reports of Destiny’s Child reunion came true during Beyoncé’s widely acclaimed performance at the 2018 Coachella Valley Music Arts Festival on Saturday night (April 14). The pop music powerhouse teamed up with Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, reuniting in concert for the first time since 2013.

Naturally, Twitter has been overflowing with Beyhive members in euphoria over the reunion. Some fans are already calling for the trio to tour.

Check out some of the reactions below and watch Destiny’s Child in action above.

Destiny’s Child is reportedly reuniting at Coachella Valley Music Arts Festival in Indio, California on Saturday night (April 14).

According to Page Six, an inside source said, “Beyoncé and Destiny’s Child are reuniting. It was teased, rumored, squashed, so nothing much else was said … But it’s happening.”

The source also added, “[It’s] to make up for the fact she was unable to perform last year [when pregnant]. The girls really wanted it and felt they owed it to the fans.”

Destiny’s Child — Beyoncé, Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland — formally disbanded in 2006 after they wrapped up the Destiny Fulfilled… and Lovin’ It Tour.

Formed in 1997, the RB trio released five albums, culminating with 2004’s Destiny Fulfilled.

The group’s third album, 2001’s Survivor, spawned the massive singles”Independent Women,” Survivor” and “Bootylicious.”

In 2013, Destiny’s Child reunited for Super Bowl XLVII Halftime Show at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Coachella’s organizers have confirmed fans are able to livestream Beyoncé’s headlining performance on YouTube. The Lemonade singer hits the stage at 11:10 p.m. PST on Channel 1 of the YouTube streams.

Post Malone hit Twitter late on Wednesday night (April 4) to announce the release date for his sophomore studio album, Beerbongs Bentleys.

The long-awaited LP will arrive on April 27.

The announcement came a short while after Malone hit the stage in Nashville on Wednesday evening as part of his Bud Light Dive Bar Tour.

During his set — which was live streamed across Facebook and Twitter — Malone performed his new single “Stay” for the first time.

“This is my first time fucking playing this song by the way,” Malone told the crowd. “And I know for a fact that I’m gonna fuck it up, but we’re gonna figure it out anyway.”

Bud Light offered an exclusive preview of the track prior to his live performance.

“Stay” comes around six weeks after Malone released “Psycho,” which features Ty Dolla $ign. Based on the success of that single, and the smash hit that was “Rockstar,” the project is already eligible for a gold certification.

Stoney, Malone’s 2016 debut album, has continued to experience success on the charts too. The LP — which features Justin Bieber, Kehlani, and Quavo — currently sits at #7 on the Billboard 200 after 68 weeks.
