Man Sues Cardi B & Offset Over Post-Met Gala Beatdown

A professional autograph seeker is suing Cardi B and Offset after claiming the couple’s security team beat him up outside of a Met Gala after-party.

Giovanni Arnold, the plaintiff in the lawsuit, was captured on video hounding Cardi for an autograph before an altercation took place on May 8. Footage showed him on the ground being attacked by multiple people after he taunted Cardi and Offset, who denied his autograph request.

According to TMZ, Arnold claims Cardi told him, “Fuck outta here nigga, I will slap the shit out of you” outside The Mark Hotel in New York. Offset allegedly told him, “Shut up, bro, before a nigga beat you out here.”

The lawsuit, which was filed by attorney Daniel Szalkiewicz, says three of the Hip Hop power couple’s bodyguards attacked Arnold after he tried to de-escalate the situation. Video of the incident appears to contradict his assertion though. In the clip, he can be heard saying, “I’ll take all your money, bro. Please beat me up. Please brother. Please be a fool.”

Arnold was taken to the hospital following the altercation. He claims to have suffered injuries to his face, back, neck and body.

(The previous version of this article was published on May 9, 2018 and can found below.)

Though everyone saw the up-close-and-personal footage of the beatdown of an autograph seeker outside a post-Met Gala 2018 party earlier this week, the “Bodak Yellow” rapper is claiming ignorance — and feigning blindness.

“I’m legally bliiiiiind,” she sings for the TMZ camera. “I’m legally blind, sir.”

A member of her entourage can then be seen shooing the cameraman away, asking him to “leave her alone” because she’s a “pregnant lady” who worked “really hard” today.

The initial reports about Giovanni Arnold, a professional autograph seeker, suggested that Cardi B’s security gave him an unprovoked beatdown after he requested a signature from the Bronx native.

Later, however, the reality seemed to be very different: a longer video shows Arnold heckling Offset after being refused autographs and begging him to “beat him up” — an offer some apparent Migos affiliates eventually obliged.

The New York Daily News also reports Arnold will likely file a lawsuit.

“Our client was beaten to a pulp for requesting an autograph,” said attorney Daniel Szalkiewicz. “Our client was held in the hospital overnight for observation. The videos clearly show this was not an act of self-defense. The assailants fled the scene to avoid being arrested for their savage attack. “No fan should ever be treated in this manner, and words never justify violence.”

YBN Cordae Challenges J. Cole’s "1985" Criticisms On "Old Niggas"

J. Cole famously called out Hip Hop’s new generation on his KOD cut “1985.” While many members of the new class have scoffed at Cole’s song, YBN Cordae has decided to respond to the criticism with a new track titled “Old Niggas.”

Although one might expect a derive tone due to the title, Cordae is actually aiming to bridge rap’s generation gap. As he says on the track, “I understand both sides, let me break it in half.”

On “Old Niggas,” Cordae reminds critics that Hip Hop was once deemed nothing more than a fad before it became the dominant genre in music. He also mentions how his idols have failed him, referencing Kanye West being a Donald Trump supporter and the litany of people facing sexual assault charges.

Cordae isn’t antagonistic to Cole’s words though. He acknowledges Hip Hop needs balance and pleads for everyone to find common ground. But in his mind, the rise of less lyrically-inclined artists is something that has tangible benefits.

“So I gotta drop music to accrue some funds/And I get it, that’s the mindset that’s killing the rhyme fest/But feeding our families, lowering the crime yet/You want us to be separate and make a contest/Rapping to stay up out the streets, shouldn’t mind that/Staying out of prison and we saying fuck the system, man/Rapping is an outlet to go and get our dividends/Rather than out robbing niggas, selling Ritalin,” he raps.

As Cordae concludes, “Cardi B got rich from Love Hip Hop.”

Women Alleging XXXTENTACION Punched Her Recants Her Story

An old video of XXXTENTACION appearing to punch a teenage girl in the face surfaced online last month and the woman in the clip claimed she was in fear for her life at the time of the incident. Now, the woman is claiming she lied.

Consequently, the defamation lawsuit the polarizing rapper (real name Jahseh Onfroy) was pursuing against her was dropped on Monday (May 14). According to TMZ, the woman submitted a notarized letter to X’s team recanting her original story.

“The video was taken years ago when Jahseh and I were both kids and we were just joking around,” the statement reads. “I was not injured as a result of what happened nor did it negatively affect my personal life.”

Following the video leak, X’s attorney was adamant the punch in the video was all “in jest.”

X is currently juggling multiple legal issues stemming from a 2016 domestic violence case. The “Look At Me!” rapper is facing multiple felonies, including witness tampering, aggravated battery of a pregnant woman, domestic battery by strangulation and false imprisonment.
