Tray Pizzy Disses Dave East On "Retribution"

Bronx rapper Tray Pizzy is calling Dave East a fraud on the new diss track “Retribution.”

Pizzy has collaborated with his rival in the past, such as their team up on East’s song “All I Know” from 2015’s Hate Me Now. But in the subsequent years, issues between the two surfaced.

According to Pizzy’s raps, East has been sending subliminal shots that inspired this diss. On the track, he questions the Mass Appeal artist’s street cred and claims East isn’t really from Harlem.

Dirtbag Dan Pays Tribute To Fallen Friends In "Caddy PH Immortal" Video

Dirtbag Dan, the bearded ex-battle-rapper responsible for stoner anthems like “Slab City” and “Concentrate,” has released a new video for his song “Caddy PH Immortal.”

This is the third video from his upcoming album, 3RTYS, which is set to drop August 30. The song is a memorial for Robert Diaz and Robert Paulson, known respectively as battle rappers PH (fka Pumpkinhead) and Cadalack Ron.

Dirtbag Dan spoke with HipHopDX about the personal significance of making this video:

“Caddy and PH had a lot more in common than most would assume. They were both battle rappers, but they were also respected musicians who personified the places they came from. They inspired. They left a legacy. To me, they’re immortal now. That’s what I wanted to write about.”

The video includes clips of Cadalack Ron and PH, as well as a large mural of Ron, painted in memoriam in Los Angeles.

Cardi B Becomes 1st Female Rapper With 2 Billboard 100 No. 1 Hits

The mainstream dominance of Cardi B has been reaffirmed once again.

Her previous Billboard 100 chart-topper “Bodak Yellow” now has some in-house company in the wake of the J. Balvin and Bad Bunny-assisted “I Like It” eclipsing the peak of the singles mountaintop.

Looks like Cardi B’s 15 minutes lasting long as hell huh? Congrats @IAMCardib for the No. 1 record in the country for “I Like It” featuring @JBalvin @BadBunnyPR!

A post shared by HipHopDX (@hiphopdx) on Jul 2, 2018 at 3:11pm PDT

The record’s new placement comes with historic distinction. Both Latin music superstars have earned their first Billboard No. 1 hit and Cardi B is now the first female rapper with two No. 1 Billboard hits. Only Lauryn Hill (1998’s “Doo Wop (That Thing”) Lil Kim (2001’s “Lady Marmalade” alongside Christina Aguilera, Mya and P!nk), Shawnna (on Ludacris’ 2003, Kanye West-produced “Stand Up”) and Iggy Azalea (2014’s “Fancy,” Charli XCX-featured “Fancy”) share the accolade of being female rap Billboard 100 chart-toppers.

Cardi B is also the first artist to have two No. 1 Billboard 100 hits from a debut album since Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ Grammy Award-winning The Heist back in 2012. She’s also the first solo act to do so for a debut album in general since Bruno Mars’ 2011 debut Doo-Wops Hooligans and first female solo act debut album since Lady Gaga’s 2009 smash, The Fame.

Her studio debut album, Invasion of Privacy, was released on April 5 and due to the success of “Bodak Yellow,” was immediately certified Gold.

To say Cardi B was elated with the “I Like It” news is an understatement, for she dedicated a sizeable amount of Instagram posts to the rare achievement. In one of the videos, she openly admits to “sleeping” on the record because her co-collaborators actually spit the bulk of their verses in Spanish.

I look crazy guys but I’m Soo happy #1 on the Billboard !!!!!

It should come as no surprise that “I Like That” is also No. 1 on the RB/Hip-Hop Rap charts.
