50 Cent Trolls Rick Ross With Vicious “Rocky IV” Instagram Post

As Rick Ross is reportedly holed up in a Miami hospital trying to survive, 50 Cent is back to his trolling ways. While most of Ross’ peers offered up prayers, the Power exec decided to pull from Rocky IV.

On Friday (March 2), 50 took to Instagram and posted a photo of Drago from the fourth Rocky film (released in 1985). While he didn’t caption the post, those who are up on their Rocky trivia noticed it was a still from a particularly violent scene.

After Drago viciously knocks out Apollo Creed in the ring, he says, “If he dies, he dies.”

50’s post appears to be a reference to Ross’ current medical situation.

A post shared by 50 Cent (@50cent) on Mar 2, 2018 at 10:15pm PST

Of course, plenty of people chimed in on 50’s post. One commenter wrote, “Don’t worry karma is a bitch something worse will happen to you one day. Ross is doing much better thank God. Your day will come and not a soul will have sympathy for you. You dirty dog.”

Ross and 50’s sordid history stretches back years. Fif alluded Rozay was a “fat piece of” shit in 2008 and in 2011, called him a “fat boy” after Ross experienced two back-to-back seizures on the same day.

In 2015, 50 filed a $2 million lawsuit against the Maybach Music Group head honcho for using his monster hit “In Da Club” on Ross’ Renzel Remixes project.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

In 2016, Ross told Rolling Stone, “I’m the biggest L he [50] ever took.” Fif responded with a since-deleted Instagram post featuring a hyena with the head of an antelope in its mouth and the caption, “When it’s all said and done, I will have his head. I said I was going to talk less and do more this year. Watch it play out.”

We’re watching.

Larry June Reassures “You’re Doing Good” With New Project

Following the release of a series of mixtapes and EPs, Bay Area-based rapper Larry June has just dropped his latest project, You’re Doing Good.

Consisting of 10 tracks, You’re Doing Good finds June recruiting the likes of The Cool Kids’ Chuck Inglish and Canadian musician Jazz Cartier for some help.

Back in 2016, June spoke with HipHopDX about dropping a surplus of music back-to-back.

“I just wanted to put the music out because I didn’t know what was going to happen. And, things happened,” Larry June said. “I just started dropping it. I didn’t know anything about blogs and shit until less than a year ago. I just started putting stuff on Twitter and the homies started fucking with it. Once I started getting attention from the blogs, I had to keep it coming.”

Meet Street Bud: The Youngest Winner Of “The Rap Game”

Atlanta, GA – As a contestant on Season 4 of The Rap Game, 13-year-old Street Bud was hard to miss. With his rainbow-colored hair, braces and round eyewear, the aspiring rapper was only 12 when the show kicked off last November.

After 13 grueling weeks, the series’ creator, Jermaine Dupri, deemed Street Bud the winner by hanging a custom So So Def gold chain around his neck during the final episode last month.

Chaining Day! ???

A post shared by Street Bud ? (@streetbud_) on Feb 23, 2018 at 8:42pm PST

“It was crazy,” Street Bud told HipHopDX. “Going through that whole competition knowing that you’re either going home with this chain or you go home with nothing … I was the youngest person to ever win. It’s crazy to think out of all the 12-year-olds he could pick, he picked me.”

Street Bud’s mother and manager Cori, who also appeared on Lifetime’s Hip Hop scouting show, was integral to the process. Every week, each contestant would undergo intense challenges — from working on their stage presence to recording in the studio. Street Bud’s mother said she felt “accomplished” seeing him finally get the chain. After all, Street Bud has been rapping since he was 4 years old and begging his mother for DJ equipment ever since he can remember.

“My mom is very important,” he said. “If it wasn’t for my mom, I would not be eating right now [laughs]. I’m pretty sure she could walk out this room, leave me and I would be starving. So, she’s just like everything. I had the best manager in the house.”

The MC’s are back Friday on an all new #TheRapGame at 10/9c. Who will @jermainedupri put on top of this week’s Hit List?

A post shared by The Rap Game (@rapgamelifetime) on Jan 31, 2018 at 7:33am PST

Street Bud had some stiff competition and for a minute, it looked like 15-year-old Lil Bri could’ve walked away with the chain. Week after week, she proved her undeniable skills on the mic.

“Lil Bri was definitely his biggest competition in the house,” Cori said to DX. “Hands down, she was his biggest competition in the house, I believe. I just feel like Lil Bri somewhat has the weight of the world on her shoulders right now. She’s dealing with her mom being sick … it’s just a lot of things. I wish I was around her more, so I could do her like I do Bud. Those things are out of your control. You keep yourself in good spirits, you keep your mom in good spirits and you continue to do what you need to do because you can’t throw down life things that are happening.”

For the group’s final performance, which also included competitors RapUnzel, Jordan and Ricci Bitti, Street Bud pulled up in a blue toy Jeep, something Cori came up with.

“My mom had the idea of the car,” he explained. “I was like, ‘Man, this is goofy. It’s gonna be real silly. I’m going to look like a clown.’ Then I did it and it made me more hype.”

Congratulations to the newest member of So So Def, @streetbud_ ! Check out his winning performance from the finale episode of #TheRapGame! ??

A post shared by The Rap Game (@rapgamelifetime) on Feb 25, 2018 at 7:46am PST

Throughout the season, Street Bud talked about his father going in and out of prison, something that clearly continues to weigh heavily on him but simultaneously gives him motivation.

“It makes me want to grind hard for what I’ve got,” he said. “Makes me feel like I’m blessed for what I’ve got because a lot of kids could not make it here. A lot of kids will not make it out. So it’s just a blessing. I stay prayed up. But I want him to see where I’m at now and how I’ve been doing it without him.”

Armed with a new contract from So So Def, Street Bud just released a new single called “Run My Check Up” and is ready for whatever comes next.

“I don’t see myself in a couple of years rapping about guns and trappin’ and all that stupid stuff,” he said. “I just want to be positive and keep doing talks at schools about staying away from drugs.”

And to the next generation of artists, Street Bud offers some advice: “Prepare for people trying to come at you because of it. You can’t let people get the best of you no matter what it is. Just stay strong. Keep your head up like your nose is bleeding.”

Cut Chemist Unleashes 1st Solo LP In 12 Years

Los Angeles, CA – Jurassic 5 turntablist Cut Chemist is back with his first solo album since 2006’s The Audience’s Listening. Titled Die Cut, the 17-track project features guest appearances from fellow J5 member Chali 2na, Biz Markie, Mr. Lif and Freestyle Fellowship’s Myka 9, among others.

Prior to the release, the Los Angeles-bred artist shared the lead single “Work My Mind” featuring Chali 2na and Hymnal, and followed up with  “Metalstorm” featuring Mr. Lif and Edan.

Aside from his impeccable scratches, the talented DJ/musician also flexes his guitar-playing skills on songs like “Plane Jane.”

The intricately layered Die Cut evokes all kinds of moods. From the spaced-out vibe of “Rhythm Method” to the mellow feel of the Biz Markie-assisted “Moonlightin’” to the high energy of the aforementioned”Work My Mind,” it effortlessly spotlights Cut’s versatility.

(The original version of this article was published on October 6, 2017 and can be found below.)

Cut Chemist — DJ for Jurassic 5 and founding member of Ozomatli — is back with his first solo LP since 2006’s The Audience Listening. In addition to the album announcement, the Los Angeles-based turntablist has shared the project’s lead single and accompanying video “Work My Mind” featuring fellow J5 member Chali 2na and frequent collaborator Hymnal.

“This is the death of a musical identity and the birth of another,” Cut explained in a statement. “It isn’t just the cut-and-paste style anymore. I’m collaborating with more musicians and sampling less. This is different. The content is emotionally heavier, even though it’s still fun. It harks back to the energy you can share with live musicians rather than being a DJ alone on stage. I wanted to capture that with this style of music.”

“Really honored to be a part of this new project with a such an old friend,” Chali tells HipHopDX. “‘Work My Mind’ bangs in the car and the club, and I can’t wait to get it tight enough to perform it!”

The slightly creepy visual finds Cut — like the mad scientist he is — piecing together various moving parts of the track as Chali and Hymnal rap along to the funked-out, uptempo beat. Towards the end, a demonic presence slinks across a cemetery, adding an element of horror into the visual.

Die Cut also boasts appearances by Mr. Lif, Freestyle Fellowship’s Myka 9,  The Mars Volta’s Deantoni Parks, Biz Markie, Parenthood actress Erika Christensen, tUnE-yArDs, Farmer Dave Scher, Dexter Story and more. The project is expected to arrive in early 2018.

The seasoned Hip Hop vet has been staying busy with his A Stable Sound podcast and plenty of live shows all around the world (both solo and with J5).
