Posdnuos, Maseo and Dave of De La Soul announced their pre-2004 albums would finally be available on digital and streaming platforms on Tuesday (February 26). But, they also revealed Tommy Boy Records would be taking 90 percent of the profits and expressed their displeasure with the situation.

Since the announcement, TIDAL pledged to not stream their projects until the issue is settled. Shortly thereafter, Tommy Boy decided to completely halt the release of the albums.

“Because Tommy Boy has not had the opportunity to sit down together with De La Soul and finalize our negotiations — something we’ve wanted to do for months — we have decided to postpone the digital release of their catalog scheduled for tomorrow,” the label said in a statement. “We know fans are eager to hear these amazing recordings and we are hopeful for a quick resolution.”

2 Chainz Drops New Album AR’d By LeBron James

Available Everywhere ..ENJOY ✌?

A post shared by 2 Chainz Aka Tity Boi (@2chainz) on Feb 28, 2019 at 9:15pm PST

2 Chainz fifth studio album Rap Or Go To The League was released this week, and NBA superstar LeBron James served as its AR.

The project has 14 tracks with features from Lil Wayne, Travis Scott, Young Thug, Kendrick Lamar and Ty Dolla $ign, among others.

One Hip Hop star that 2 Chainz wishes he could have gotten on the project was JAY-Z, but it seems like the timing wasn’t right.

“He’s my favorite. I’d love to work with him,” he said on The Breakfast Club. “I tried to get him on this album. He said, ‘Maybe next album.’ We’ll get it going. You know, I love what he did on Meek’s project. I love that Pusha record he did. There’s a few Ross records I like. There’s a few Jeezy records I like … So, he’s just busy on other people’s stuff.”

Future Clears Up “No Fatties Allowed” Rumor

#future ain’t discriminating

A post shared by DJ Akademiks (@akadmiks) on Mar 2, 2019 at 9:00am PST

According to plus-size model Nao, Future allegedly imposed a “fatty” ban at a Miami nightclub, causing him to get dragged on social media.

On Friday (March 1), Future took to Twitter to deny the allegations.

“STOP CAPPIN ON MY NAME…I love all women,” he tweeted.

DJ E Feezy, who was there as Future’s DJ for the evening, came to his defense.

“First off, the big girl who said that said the promoter said that,” he explained. “That’s a problem with a lot of Miami promotors in that y’all don’t want big girls in the club. Sometimes y’all barely want black girls in the club and y’all black. Now what happens is, because you blame it on another nigga ’cause you don’t want the big girls in your section, now it’s all over the fuckin’ blogs.”

#DXCLUSIVES: Maseo, DJ Khaled Eminem

Maseo On De La Soul’s War With Tommy Boy: “There’s Been A Lot Of Pain Suffering”

Maseo of De La Soul spoke with HipHopDX about what’s going on behind the scenes in their much-publicized dispute with Tommy Boy Records.

“This is exposing the truth of the situation at least,” Maseo told DX. “At the end of the day, we all take a hit whether we are the good guy or the bad guy in the situation. I was careful enough to say it’s not everybody. All we ask is to be fair. For what we’ve been able to sustain … look, Tom lost the catalog. And losing the catalog, I could have potentially lost my career. Between now and then, look what I’ve been able to sustain.”

Mystikal Rejects Plea Deal & Wants Rape Case Thrown Out

Caddo Parish, LA – Mystikal posted a $3 million bond last month to secure his release from prison — at least temporarily. The veteran rap star had been behind bars since 2017 when he was indicted on charges of first-degree rape and second-degree kidnapping.

Now, the New Orleans native wants the whole case thrown out. According to TMZ, Mystikal’s attorney Joel Pearce recently met with Caddo Parish, Louisiana prosecutors who offered him a favorable deal.

In exchange for a guilty plea on a felony simple rape count, the aggravated rape charge would be reduced to simple third-degree rape with a maximum sentence of 25 years.

Pearce said prosecutors were also willing to drop the second-degree kidnapping charge. But Mystikal and his legal team believe the alleged victim is lying and has credibility issues.

Needless to say, it’s a significant gamble Mystikal is evidently hoping pays off. He’s expected at trial in May. If he’s convicted of the aggravated rape charge, he could face up to life in prison.

Travis Scott Resumes Tour After Being Accused Of Cheating

New York, NY – Travis Scott’s Astroworld Tour got back on track this weekend. The chart-topping artist performed at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Saturday night (March 2) after postponing a show in Buffalo just a few days prior.

Scott said he had to delay the Buffalo concert, which was originally scheduled to take place on February 28, because he was sick. But a report by TMZ claimed he was actually dealing with cheating accusations made by his girlfriend Kylie Jenner.

“Buffalo I’m so sorry I can’t perform tonight,” he wrote via Twitter. “I’m under the weather and it fucking sucks! Can’t pull up without full rage. Show rescheduled to March 10 all tix are valid. See u soon.”

After rumors of Scott’s alleged cheating surfaced, he deactivated his Instagram account. Reps for Scott insist he didn’t cheat, and Jenner is reportedly staying with him despite the accusations of infidelity.

During his concert at MSG, Scott shouted out his “wifey” at the end of the show.

Scott is scheduled to perform in Brooklyn on Sunday night (March 3) as the Astroworld Tour continues.

The run of shows will end on March 26 when he performs in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The concert is a make-up date following a last-minute postponement in February, which led to chaos outside the venue.

Everybody’s Everything is directed by Sebastian Jones and Ramez Silyan. Academy Award-winning director Terrence Malick and Peep’s mother serve as producers for the film.

SXSW’s official page for the documentary describes it as “an intimate, humanistic portrait that seeks to understand an artist who attempted to be all things to all people.”

Peep passed away in November 2017. The cause of death was an accidental overdose of fentanyl and generic Xanax.
