Nicki Minaj’s Delivers Pre-Recorded Performance For 2018 MTV VMAs

New York, NY – For the 2018 Video Music Awards, MTV pre-recorded Nicki Minaj’s performance at the Oculus hub for the World Trade Center transit station and aired it during Monday night’s (August 20) ceremony — a first for a major awards show.

Dressed in garb fit for a queen, Nicki emerged from a golden throne carrying a scepter as she opened her set with live renditions of “Majesty” and “Barbie Dreams” before spitting a few acapella bars from “Ganja Burn” — all new music from the recently released Queen album.

To end the set, the self-professed Queen of Rap performed “FEFE,” her collaboration with Tekashi 6ix9ine. The controversial, rainbow-haired rapper, however, didn’t make an appearance.

Nicki lashed out on Twitter Sunday (August 19) and claimed Queen was the No. 1 Billboard 200 album — not Travis Scott’s Astroworld — despite numbers that say otherwise. She pointed the finger at Kylie Jenner, her child with La Flame, Stormi, and Spotify.

Last week, Nicki quietly added “FEFE” to Queen‘s tracklist on all streaming platforms in what looked like an attempt to secure the No. 1 spot. Unfortunately for her, that didn’t work.

Twitter Scoffs At Madonna’s Aretha Franklin "Tribute" During 2018 MTV VMAs

Twitter – During the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards on Monday night (August 20), Madonna took the stage to pay tribute to Aretha Franklin.

But, rather than talking about the late Queen of Soul’s storied history, Madge went on for roughly 10 minutes telling her own rags-to-riches story.

Dressed in Malawi garb and adorned with African jewelry, the pop superstar recalled her New York City origins when she living in a crackhouse and being mistaken for a prostitute.

Of course, Twitter erupted with seemingly endless posts about the “tribute,” calling out the Material Girl for what was perceived as D-I-S-R-E-S-P-E-C-T.

Check out the reactions from The Cool Kids’ Chuck Inglish, Thelonious Martin and more below.

Travis Scott, Meek Mill & More Show Out For James Harden’s #JHtownWeekend

Houston, Texas – This past weekend (August 17 – 20) Houston Rockets Point Guard and current NBA MVP James Harden hosted the second annual #JHtownWeekend — a three-day charity event in Houston presented by his 3thehardway Foundation.

Kicking off with a comedy show on Friday (August 17), the weekend schedule included a celebrity softball game on Saturday, and basketball game on Sunday. Artists like Travis Scott, Meek Mill, Trae Tha Truth and Sevyn Streeter competed with — and against — NBA stars like Donovan Mitchell, Chris Paul, and John Wall.

One of the weekend’s most memorable moments came from hometown hero Travis Scott, who hit a home run during the Saturday’s softball game then proceeded to jump and cartwheel around the bases while chart-topping music from his latest LP Astroworld blasted.

“Last year was a success, so we wanted to run it back again this year,” Harden said during an interview with 93.7 The Beat in Houston. Money raised during last year’s event was used to give scholarships to 13 high school students — and this year will be no different.

Check out the highlights from the 2018 JhTown Weekend down below.

Birdman Accuses Lil Wayne & Cortez Bryant Of Drake Profits Scam

Los Angeles, CA – The ongoing legal saga between Lil Wayne and Birdman is just like the Law Order series: never-ending.

In the latest episode, Birdman is now countersuing Cortez Bryant’s Aspire Music Group with the fine print accusing the mogul, Lil Wayne and a lawyer named Roger Sweeney of conspiring together to cut Cash Money Records out the lion’s share of Drake profits, The Blast reports.

“Aspire was simply a shell company,” the countersuit reads adding, “There was no business purpose to forming Aspire, other than to siphon profits out of the joint venture and to divert those profits to Sweeney, Bryant, and Carter/ Young Money. Aspire never conducted any business other than getting Drake signed to a record label. Aspire has never signed, nor sought to sign, a single additional artist.”

The latest news arrives at a conspicuous time, seeing that Birdman recently agreed to settle with the Young Money boss for $10 million and release the stronghold on Tha Carter V among other things.
