Tee Grizzley’s “First Day Out (Remix)” Featuring Meek Mill Is Here

Philadelphia, PA – As the confetti still falls in the wake of Meek Mill’s hometown Philadelphia Eagles first-ever Super Bowl victory, Tee Grizzley has deemed in an appropriate time to release the official “First Day Out (Remix)” which co-stars the incarcerated MMG superstar.

Tee Grizzley’s label home, 300, tells HipHopDX the remix was recorded at 11th Street Studios in Atlanta sometime in June 2017.

The Detroit-bred rapper appears to have updated his vocals with Super Bowl LII-tinged lyrics like, “I won 50 on the Eagles/Split it with my dogs,” as he kicks off the record’s second verse following Meek Milly’s performance.

For active rap fans, Meek Mill’s inclusion on the remix will feel like a fitting feature opposed to an up-and-coming rapper attempting to soak up a bigger artist’s celebrity. With its gritty by any means necessary ethos, “First Day Out” has drawn plenty of comparisons to Meek’s acclaimed “Dreams Nightmares” 2012 intro track which ironically, the Eagles christened as their official Super Bowl song.

Last year, Tee Grizzley spoke with HipHopDX about the success of his breakout single saying, “When I was locked up bro, I was just writing a whole bunch of songs. I wrote this one song. It didn’t have a hook on it. I was like I’m going to be calm and first and then turn up. All through my bid, I was just adding to it. Touching it up and critiquing it. I was like I’m going to drop this first. That’s why I named it ‘First Day Out’ because that was the first thing I did when I got out.”

As for Meek Mill, his legal team has relayed the fact that they’re optimistic the 30-year-old star will soon be vindicated from the two-to-four-year prison sentence that shackles his physical and artistic frames.

In a recent interview with DX, attorney Joe Tacopina relished how they “look forward” to serving justice to the prosecuting Judge Genece Brinkley.

DXclusives: T-Pain, Post Malone Fake Shore Drive

T-Pain Thinks Most Celebrities Are “The Loneliest People In The World”

T-Pain spoke with HipHopDX about his 2017 album Oblivion and putting down the bottle. He explains his love for alcohol was a coping mechanism.

“Most famous people are the loneliest people in the world,” T-Pain told DX. “That just how it goes. That’s everybody. People are always trying different vices. You can’t just go meet people like everybody else. You can’t just go out dancing and just go to hookah bars out here or anything like that. You need people you can actually have a conversation with and somebody you know actually likes having a conversation with you, and they not just talking to you because they can get something out of you.”

Check out T-Pain’s interview here.

Post Malone: The Inadvertent Culture Vulture

Post Malone became popular in 2015 with his melodic single “White Iverson.” In subsequent years, it seems he hasn’t understood he’s been afforded certain privileges because of his gender and race. It’s something he struggles to deal with and something HipHopDX explores.

“Although Malone owes his career to Hip Hop for providing him a lane, it often seems like he wants little to do with it,” DX Staff Writer Justin Ivey penned. “It’s right there in his answer to GQ: ‘I don’t want to be a rapper. I just want to be a person that makes music.’ Hip Hop gave him a way in, but he really doesn’t want to be defined by it.”

How Fake Shore Drive Put On For Chicago Hip Hop

Andrew Barber’s Fake Shore Drive helped push a lot of Chicago artists to the forefront. DX explored Fake Shore Drive’s beginnings to now in a retrospective piece.

“When I first started Fake Shore Drive my goal was to just shine a light on what was happening in the Chicago Hip Hop scene and the midwest in general. Because I feel like this is the most underserved region in Hip Hop,” Barber told HipHopDX.
