Famous Dex’s Antics At UC Irvine’s Shocktoberfest Lead To Event’s Cancellation

Irvine, CA – Famous Dex literally shut a show down with his performance at UC Irvine’s Shocktoberfest.

The Rich Forever artist jumped into the crowd during his set at the university’s annual event on Friday (October 19), prompting fans to rush the stage en masse. The pandemonium led to officials canceling the remainder of the concert, which was scheduled to be headlined by YG.

“We had to make the decision to shut down the show due to numerous safety hazards,” Dilraj Toor, UC Irvine’s Student Services Vice President, said in a statement on Facebook. “Our midliner, Famous Dex, presented us with challenges that escalated out of our control. We do the best we can to prepare for situations such as this, but with students rushing the floor and creating a dangerous environment, we had no other option.

“The main goal of ours is, yes, to ensure students have fun, but that does not outweigh the safety of the students. That is, and will always be, the highest of our concerns, and when we felt the safety was compromised last night, we had to end the show.”

Following the show’s cancellation, more chaos ensued outside UC Irivine’s Bren Events Center. Students climbed on Dex’s car and banged on the windows, according to the school newspaper New University.

Footage from the scene showed a man, believed to be Dex, inside the vehicle brandishing a gun. The incident prompted an alert from campus police.
