Diddy had to call Bryson Tiller up for a moment of celebration now that the pair have a No. 1 hit on their hands with “Gotta Move On.”
Before he FaceTimed Tiller to excitedly announce, “We went No. 1 baby,” Puff sat down to give details about the collab in a video for Billboard. “Gotta Move On” currently sits atop Billboard’s Adult RB Airplay chart – which makes for the Bad Boy CEO’s eleventh No. 1 overall and his very first under his new Love Records imprint.
“This is not just a me No. 1. It was Bryson Tiller’s record first,” Diddy explained. “I was doing this RB album and I’m a big Bryson Tiller fan and I had called him and I was like, ‘Man I heard this record that you did. Is there a way you would consider letting me use it on my album and dropping it as my first single?’”
Clearly Tiller said yes, and the rest was history.
“Whenever I do a vulnerable record like that, you know, I usually have the best success,” Diddy added. “But it couldn’t happen without Bryson Tiller. He’s an amazing artist.”
“Gotta Move On” was released in May with a Teyana Taylor-directed video arriving soon after, and stands to live on Puff’s forthcoming album, Off The Grid Vol. 1. The LP will be his fifth studio effort, and his first since 2006’s Press Play. It will also be his first project released under Love Records, which is the RB imprint the music mogul launched earlier this year in collaboration with Motown Records.
