Al B. Sure! Opens Up About Tracheotomy In Latest Health Update

Al B. Sure! has offered fans some insight into the medical scare that left him in a coma for two months earlier this year.

In the chat with Fox 5 New York, the 1980s RB star recounted the last few moments before the coma, revealing that he remembers very little about the events that led to legendary producer Eddie F rushing him to the hospital.

“Eddie F is standing above me, I’m in a wheelchair, and he’s talking to security, he had me hidden in the corner. And I’m in an emergency room,” Al B. Sure! recounted. “And then I remember him embracing me and then putting me in his Escalade or whatever, and moving me. And those are the big things I remember. And wind up being in a hospital somewhere. This is in July 2022 and then it was September.”

Without offering any specifics about the medical conditions that led to his hospitalization, Al B. Sure! said that he had been working on new music when he collapsed over the summer. While in the hospital, the singer underwent a tracheotomy and received a new liver through a surgical procedure called a chevron.

The former Uptown Records artist went on to tell Fox 5 New York that he was in such a critical condition at one point that doctors considered sending him to hospice care, meaning that they did not expect him to recover.

On Saturday (December 17), Al B. Sure! posted another health update to Instagram, sharing that his tracheotomy wound had fully closed and recalled not being able to speak for some time after returning home.
