Pop Smoke’s accused killer has a lot of people upset after photos of him in prison enjoying a large Pizza Hut meal with inmates have surfaced online.
Akademiks shared the photos on his Instagram page on Friday (October 7), showing the alleged gunman posing with the food. In one photo, the teenager stands in front of a mattress with the Pizza Hut box placed on it behind him, and in the other picture, an array of opened pizza boxes are on the mattress while the teen is on his phone.
People on social media were not happy with the photos and let their frustrations be known in Akademiks comment section. According to most of the comments, the 17-year-old shouldn’t be able to enjoy a Pizza Hut meal for taking Pop Smoke’s life.
“He killed the Woo he don’t get no pizza,” one person wrote while another said, “And He got the audacity to have all them damn toppings gang.”
A third person added: “Bro killed a man over a chain. Death penalty.”
Pop Smoke was murdered during a home invasion gone wrong on February 19, 2020. Several hooded men broke into the home Pop was renting through Airbnb and took a woman in the property hostage. Pop found the intruders and complied with their demands to give up his jewelry before attempting to fight them, which led to Pop getting shot.
Police arrived at the scene six minutes later, finding Pop Smoke with several bullet wounds. He was transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a few hours after doctors performed surgery on him.
The motive for the botched robbery was reportedly Pop Smoke’s lavish Rolex watch he showed off on social media before the shooting, which they ended up selling for roughly $2,000.
The alleged triggerman in Pop Smoke’s death was reportedly just 15 years old, the youngest of the four defendants facing murder and robbery charges in the case. He allegedly confessed to his role in the murder during a recorded interview with a cellmate at a juvenile detention center in May 2020.
“He admitted that he shot the victim three times with a Baretta 9 (mm.),” LAPD Detective Carlos Camacho testified at preliminary hearings. The detective said the teen “admitted they asked for the jewelry” and then had “a confrontation” with Pop Smoke before ultimately killing him.
