50 Cent Developing British Boxing Drama Series For STARZ

50 Cent has yet another TV show on the horizon, and this time he’s linking back up with STARZ and taking viewers into the world of British boxing.

According to a report from Deadline, 50 is executive producing a drama series titled Fightland that’s currently in development at STARZ. The scripted show follows the story of a retired, world champion fighter that finds himself on the dark side of the sport after his childhood friend and training partner disappears.

In order to find his best friend, the disgraced fighter must return to the sport that almost ruined his life and cost him everything he had to escape it. The show comes from the minds of writing tag-team duo Daniel Fajemisin-Duncan and Marlon Smith, who both grew up in South London.

In addition, 50 Cent will be working alongside Francis Hopkinson and Katharine Leadbetter of Expanded Media to produce the show. Overseeing the show on behalf of STARZ will be Vice President, Original Programming, Sebastian Arboleda, and Director, Original Programming, Alex Alberts.

Fightland embodies the stakes, swagger, and ambition that collaborations between Starz and 50 Cent have come to represent,” said Kathryn Busby, President, Original Programming at Starz. “We are excited to be working with Daniel and Marlon who are brilliant writers and whose authentic take will bring this global story to life.”

The news of the show is huge given the fact it’s 50’s first project with STARZ since he announced he completed his exclusive contract deal with the network in September. There’s currently no other information on 50 joining back up with STARZ.

50 Cent Says He Doesn’t Need To Release A New Album: ‘We’re Approaching Where Prince Was’

The news comes a day after the Queens rap legend shared an idea for another show that tells the story of infamous New York City crime boss Clarence “The Preacher” Heatley. Taking to Instagram, the G-Unit mogul shared an image and mugshot of Heatley asking fans if they were ready for the new show.

In a second post, the G-Unit boss revealed he might have his friend and actor Gbenga Akinnagbe — famous for his role as Chris Partlow on The Wire — play Heatley’s character.

“I think my boy Gbenga Akinnagbe should play The Black Hand Of Death,” 50 added. “What you think? #bransoncognac #lecheminduroi.”
